Riders Not Heroes is a short video essay that investigates the precarious conditions of food delivery riders in Milan. The 13’ video makes a strong case for riders as essential workers, lying at the intersection of platform capitalism, gig-labor, the refugee crises and COVID-19.
2050+ is a Milan-based interdisciplinary agency working at the intersection of technology, environment, politics and design.
2050+ draws on built work as well as on curatorial practices – installations, scenography, exhibitions, moving images and publications – to investigate and intervene critically in today’s fragile and ever-changing environment.
Founded in 2020, ongoing projects include: Open?, the curation of the 2020-21 Russian Federation Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale; the renovation of La Rinascente building by Franco Albini and Franca Helg in Rome; the development of the exhibition design of Aquaria at the MAAT of Lisbon and of the exhibition space Room89 at the Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo; the initiation of Nike Movement Lab, a research think tank on the future of sport through the lens of Milan.
Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli is an architect and curator based in Milan. He is the founder of the interdisciplinary agency 2050+. Currently he teaches at the Royal College of Arts in London. Between 2007 and 2020 he has worked as an architect and partner at OMA.
